Success In Home Business Requires Relationships

It’s absolutely essential, when you’re growing your home-based business, that you tie into a group of people who share a similar vision.

What does that mean?

It means that you should surround yourself, as often as possible, with people who believe that being in business for yourself is the ultimate way to control your destiny. It means investing time and energy only with people who have dreams and are willing to do what it takes to make those dreams become reality. It means giving of yourself and connecting with those who strive to be and do better every single day.

Why? Experience, Excitement, and Empowerment.

Experience

First, it’s much, much easier to gain momentum – major leaps forward – when there is a group of people available to share their home business experience with you.

Consider this. In growing your business, there will come a time when you’ll encounter a situation that you don’t know how to handle. It could be an irate customer, an unusual objection, or even something as simple as a question you don’t know how to answer.

How much easier do you think it will be to deal with this situation in the future when you have 100 business owners sharing how THEY handled that exact same experience at some point in the past?

Groups can share ideas, critique marketing pieces, trade referrals, and a host of other things help each member succeed. That’s what happens when you surround yourself with a group of people who all work together to build each other up.

Excitement

People who dream huge dreams consistently bring entrepreneurial passion and positive energy to the table.

When someone is excited about what they’re doing, that enthusiasm becomes contagious and it helps you raise your level of excitement about what you’re doing in YOUR business. And a positive attitude opens the door to unlimited creativity, helping you find more and better ideas to use in your business.

Your group will also be a key part of celebrating victories with you on a regular basis. You can be happy about something you did well, but when a whole group of people is patting you on the back, that level of pleasure is intensified exponentially.

And positive energy breeds positive energy, so you can attract even more business to yourself.

Empowerment

Finally, the nature of your relationships, especially those where you spend most of your time, have a major impact on the results in your business – and in your life.

Think about it for a second. When you spend a lot of time with someone, you generally have some sort of conversation, right? The words that enter your ears directly influence your emotions – and ultimately, your actions. You can’t help it (unless you train your brain, and that’s a topic for another day).

Imagine for a moment that the vast majority of words you hear on a regular basis are empowering and affirming. Every friend and associate encourages you to step out and step up, to take your business to a new level. You regularly hear “You did GREAT!” or “You really changed his life.” How would that feel?

You would be unstoppable!

Now think about the friends and family you spend time with every day. Do you hear things like “I wouldn’t do that if I were you” or “MLMs are all scams” or “Do you really think that YOU can be in business for yourself? Ha!”

Does that sound like a recipe for success? Not!

The example might sound like an exaggeration, but consider this: How many times has your vocabulary changed because of the words your friends use? How many times have you adopted a catch phrase because your best bud used it all the time?

Really think about it. It’s not a conscious act; the words we hear definitely change us.

Make the choice to participate in a group of like-minded entrepreneurs who will support you and will allow you to support them as you grow your home-based businesses. Give 100% all the time, and enjoy the process!

  1. SaRita,
I absolutely loved your article. I am so used to writing comments about the same topic today, but you’res really caught my attention.
It is about sticking with like-minded people who give you positive energy. But at the same time, your peers should also be able to give you negative criticism as well, right? I mean that is the only way you will really learn from your mistakes (in a “safe” controlled environment).
What I mean is, I would rather hear how “sucky” something I did was from someone in my group, before I hear it from a prospective customer.

    • I totally agree, Joanna. That’s the best way I know to continuously improve. Thanks for your insights! -SaRita
